1 litre/1Â¾ pints almond milk (with no added sugar, if possible)

2 whole cardamom pods

1 tbsp finely ground cardamom

5 tbsp caster sugar

7 tbsp cornflour

2 tbsp pistachios or almonds, coarsely ground

2 tbsp rosewater

2 tsp vanilla essence
