Firefighters were working to save "a number of mobile homes" that caught alight at a quarry.

Hertfordshire fire service sent eight appliances to tackle the blaze at Codicote Quarry.

It said trees surrounding the site, in St Albans Road, were also affected by flames.

"We'd ask people to avoid the area while firefighters work to tackle the fire," a spokesman said.
