The devastation left behind after a suspected gas explosion at a property can be seen in detail in new photos.

Emergency services were called to Lancaster Road in Yate, near Bristol, at 06:53 BST on Tuesday.

Three people were taken to hospital and more than 40 residents were evacuated after the fire spread to neighbouring properties.

A cordon was put in place around the scene and a refuge centre was set up at the nearby Farmhouse pub.

The explosion almost completely destroyed the property.

The neighbouring property also suffered damage with debris landing between both houses.

A car parked on the road in front of the house suffered damage after debris landed on its roof.

A cordon remains in place while investigation and clear up work is carried out at the scene.
