BBC Young Reporter Competition

BBC Young Reporter Competition
The BBC Young Reporter Competition is now closed.
What is the BBC Young Reporter Competition?
An opportunity for anyone aged 11-18 in the UK to submit an original story idea to the BBC.
BBC Young Reporter Competition winners have the unique chance to tell their story on TV, radio, online or on social media with the help of BBC journalists, producers and programme makers.
We ask young people for original and true stories about their lives and the world they live in and to explain their personal connection to the story and why they want to tell it to a wider audience.
Previous winners
The winning stories were broadcast on television and radio across the BBC, including The One Show, BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 Live, BBC News, Newsround and local BBC radio.
Stories were also shared online and on social media platforms.

Who are the judges?
Previous judges include Naga Munchetty and Ashley John-Baptiste from BBC News, The One Show’s Alex Jones, along with Pria Rai from Newsbeat and Newsround’s Ricky Boleto alongside editors, presenters and reporters from across the BBC.
Judges select national and regional winners. Stories are judged on editorial merit – that means the strength of story, its originality, and the personal connection or background behind it.
All story ideas are checked prior to final judging to make sure they are factually true, accurate and legally sound.
