Restored 'Killer of Sheep': Black Film Classic from 1977 Released in Cinemas

It's now regarded by cinephiles as amongst the greatest films of all time - but 1977's 'Killer of Sheep' by filmmaker Charles Burnett had humble beginnings.

Burnett was a film student when he made it for very little money and was inspired by Italian neorealism to portray his local community of Watts in Los Angeles.

Two US film companies, Kino Lorber and Milestone Films, have been involved in bringing a 4K restoration of the film to a new generation of audiences. It is now being shown in arthouse cinemas across America.

Tom Brook recently met Charles Burnett at the Film Forum cinema in New York where his film is being screened.
