Hi, I'm Amy and we are going to celebrate all our many skills and talents.
Today we are going to be performers in a very special talent contest.
Before the audience arrive, let's do a quick rehearsal.
Imagine you have a big hula hoop.
Can you spin the hula hoop around your waist, round and round without letting it fall.
Oh. Wow, that was impressive.
Sometimes it can feel like everyone is watching us and that can make us worried.
But I know that taking on challenges and being brave can also make me feel great.
Right, it's showtime.
The first act is the tightrope walk. Imagine you're walking along a piece of string very high up in the air.
One small step at a time.
Nice and slow arms out wide, head up and don't look down.
Focus on something straight ahead to keep you steady and your nerves.
Are you feeling brave?
Can you touch your toes?
How about walking backwards? Remember, don't look down.
Phew. Well done.
The next act is mime. A mime artist. What are you going to mime?
You could pretend you're stuck inside a cardboard box.
Or maybe you're in a lift.
What other things can you mime? See if your classmates can guess what you're doing?
Perfect balloon mime, Evie.
Great banana mime, Dr Ranj. Nice one Oti.
And for our final act, i's time to dance.
You could do a jive, a Charleston or a salsa. Or freestyle your own moves.
Let's all be really brave and really bold with our dancing.
Take a deep breath and remain focused.
Don't worry about what anyone else is doing, just focus on you.
Off we go. One, two, three, hit it.
Congratulations, you all get top marks.
Oh well done everyone.
Making mistakes is all part of performing in a show.
It can be nerve-racking but try to focus on what you are doing and not be distracted by others.
Shows like ours are full of lots of different types of amazing people. It's important to celebrate everyone.
Now say out loud. I am brave. Ready?
I am brave.
I am so relieved that the show went well, I hope to see you again soon at our next one.
Bye.
Get ready to join Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden to perform in a spectacular cabaret show. Pupils will use their imagination to picture performing on stage as various acts including mime artistry, circus acts and dancers!
By walking a tightrope, hula hooping and dancing, each individual is encouraged to embrace a challenge, celebrate their own uniqueness and show courage.
This Imagine activity can help inspire confidence in primary school age pupils, so they are better able to focus on themselves and not worry about making mistakes.
