Whoop, whoop! Hi there everyone.
I'm Oti - but you can call me Mc Hype because we are going to get down and funky to help us feel full of energy.
Even if we're tired.
Sometimes we can feel a little bit bored or lacking in energy and need a bit of a boost.
Dancing, singing and joining in with others can make us feel energised and give us what we need to feel motivated to keep going.
So let's start with some funky music.
When I say and do something you copy me back. Simple?
Great.
Now who's ready to boogie?
Let me hear you say "Yeah!"
I can't hear you.
I said who's ready to boogie?
Let me hear you say "Yeah!"
That's more like it.
Let's start with a simple two-step movement in time with the beat.
That's it.
Now, throw your hands in the air and wave them around like you just don't care.
Very good.
When I say "jump", you say "up".
Jump, jump.
When I say "jog", you say "run".
Jog, jog.
When I say "tick", you say "tock".
Tick, tick.
When I say "star", you say "jump".
Star, star.
When I say "ice", you say "cold".
Ice, ice.
When I say hot, you say "fire".
Hot, hot.
When I say down, you say "low".
Down, down.
When I say wiggle, you say "waggle".
Wiggle, wiggle.
Great! Did you notice how each time you responded you came back a little bit louder, stronger and faster?
I was feeling a little bit bored earlier. And now I'm starting to feel excited.
Let's do it again.
But even louder this time.
Are you ready? Let's go.
When I say jump, you say "up".
Jump, jump.
When I say jog, you say "run".
Jog, jog.
When I see tick, you say "tock".
Tick, tick.
When I say star, you say "jump".
Star, star.
When I say ice, you say "cold".
Ice, ice.
When I say hot, you say "fire".
Hot, hot.
When I say down, you say "low".
Down, down.
When I say wiggle, you say "waggle".
Wiggle, wiggle.
Oh, well done, everyone.
You were off the hook.
Now, after taking time to boost today I feel really energised and ready to take on whatever life throws at me.
I was feeling bored but now I am just excited.
When I say I am, you say "hype".
I am, I am.
And once altogether - I am hype.
Kaboom!
TV presenter and Strictly Come Dancing champion Oti Mabuse becomes MC Hype to get the class off their feet, helping to combat any feelings of tiredness and fatigue.
The fun classroom activity features a series of call and response instructions, including high-energy movements which encourage pupils to be faster, stronger and braver.
The video can be used to encourage pupils to think about and bolster their resilience and motivation, even at times when they perhaps feel tired, bored or lethargic.
Feeling low on energy, motivation, or confidence can affect how we think, feel and act every day.
Teacher Notes
- Phase and setting most suitable for: KS1 and KS2. Whole class movement.
- When to use: Start of the day/Movement break between lessons
See our Moodboosters School Timetable for more ideas.

Enrichment activities
- Energy Tracker
- Create a simple Energy Tracker Chart where children can mark moments in the day they feel tired and how they choose to power up (high tens, breaths, moving around).
- My Superpower Move
- Each child invents and draws their own "power move" (could be a jump, dance, or stretch) and writes a short description. Example: "My Superpower Move is the Lightning Jump! I jump up and spin around."
- Power Chant
- Lead a call-and-response chant:
Teacher: "Power up!"
Kids: "Electrify!"
Teacher: "Awake your body and alert your mind!"
Kids: (repeat loudly)
- "Pass the Power" Game
- Like "pass the parcel," but instead of a parcel, kids pass a pretend "power ball" around while music plays.
- When the music stops, whoever has the ball says one thing that helps them feel energetic or happy.
