It’s totally normal for mums to gain a few extra pounds when they’re pregnant and it’s often the fluid around baby that adds weight on. And if you’re staying in and chilling out more, dads can surprisingly add a few pounds to their waistline too! Whilst there’s no harm in putting on a bit of weight, its always good to try and stay in the best shape you can during pregnancy. But for the first few months after baby arrives, you shouldn’t be worrying about your waistline. Don’t compare yourself to other people and feel pressured into losing weight quickly. Having a healthy balanced diet is the most important thing. Eating foods that slowly release energy like porridge and wholemeal bread can really help keep you powered up throughout the day. Be active, taking baby out for walks in the buggy can really help to keep both your mind and body fit… and is a great way to bond.
