Why is the coast often cooler than inland areas when the weather warms up?

With the warm spell expected to peak on Thursday, heading to the coast might seem like a good way to spend the day as well as take advantage of the sea breeze.

The temperature can sometimes drop significantly along the coast due to these onshore winds and BBC Weather's Susan Powell explains how a sea breeze forms and why it make things much cooler compared to inland areas.
